INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS – EU / EEA / Swiss and Equivalent Categories
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens, foreigners, stateless persons, residents and long-term residents
This section is intended for candidates who may apply to the study programmes of the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca under the same conditions as Romanian citizens, in accordance with the applicable legislation.
This category may include, as applicable:
- citizens of the European Union;
- citizens of the European Economic Area;
- citizens of the Swiss Confederation;
- foreign citizens, stateless persons, residents and long-term residents who meet the conditions provided for by law.
Additional requirement
In addition to the standard admission documents, candidates in this category must also upload one of the following documents issued by the Romanian authorities:
- a Certificate of Recognition of Studies issued by CNRED;
- a Certificate of Recognition / Equivalence of Studies issued by CNRED.
These documents confirm the recognition within the Romanian education system of studies completed abroad.

The Technical University of Cluj-Napoca organises the Romanian Preparatory Year for international candidates, in accordance with the accreditation granted by the Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education and the applicable legal provisions.
All candidates may choose to attend this programme; however, it is compulsory for those who wish to enrol in a study programme taught in Romanian and do not already hold proof of Romanian language proficiency, under the conditions laid down by law.
Upon completion of the programme, students receive a document certifying Romanian language proficiency, in accordance with the applicable legal framework, which enables them to access higher education study programmes taught in Romanian.
